Kate Hill AwardCelebrating the Legacy of Kate Thornberry Hill |
Guiding Star of Texas StaffingThe Texas Association of Staffing is here to strengthen the role of our industry; in keeping more Texans employed and keep Texas staffing companies moving forward. In the dynamic landscape of Texas’s staffing industry, one figure stood out as a beacon of inspiration: Kate Thornberry Hill. Starting her journey as a part-time admin, Kate quickly became the linchpin in the formation and growth of the “Temporary Help Services Association of Texas” (THSAT). Under her watch, this association metamorphosed into the prominent “Texas Association of Staffing” (TAS). Kate’s political lineage, with ties to renowned figures like her father, The Honorable Homer Thornberry, and President Lyndon B. Johnson, enriched her with a deep-seated acumen. This understanding empowered her to navigate and shape the legislative framework for staffing in Texas. Through her unwavering efforts, the industry achieved significant milestones, from beneficial tax exemptions to crucial legislative distinctions. Recognizing her tireless contribution, the American Staffing Association (ASA) presented the Texas chapter with numerous accolades for both Chapter Relations and Legislative Accomplishments. Yet, the impact of Kate’s legacy was not confined to these awards. In 2013, bidding farewell to this stalwart, recognizing her unparalleled contributions and the void her passing left, the “Kate Thornberry Hill Lifetime Industry Leader Award” was instituted. This award doesn’t merely celebrate its recipients but also commemorates the essence of Kate’s indomitable spirit and dedication. Now, as we honor each award recipient, their stories intertwine with Kate’s legacy, epitomizing the passion, vision, and commitment that continuously propels the Texas staffing industry forward. |
